EyeWitness

TM
MaiVERIC's

EyeWitness is a state-of-the-art SaaS application developed by MaiVERIC and hosted on Microsoft's Azure Government Cloud. It lawfully and securely ingests booking records in the possession of public safety agencies and uses artificial intelligence algorithms to create machine-searchable known offender archives (KnOAHs). The application allows authorized analysts and investigators to compare crime scene evidence, such as field suspect faces recorded by surveillance cameras, with the indexed KnOAH records to help determine if the evidence found has been identified/booked before. When likely matches are found, users can use the information on the booking records to expedite their investigations. When no matches are found, they have the ability to create new EyeWitness records that track unidentified evidence linked to multiple investigations.

The deployment of EyeWitness within a single public safety agency can expedite investigations and improve the agency's clearance rates. Its deployment across several agencies allows for the secure sharing of known-offender and evidence-of-interest datasets, significantly increasing the effectiveness of analysts and investigators across agencies.

Notwithstanding the increasing volumes of data available to law enforcement agencies, clearance rates have not improved in 20 years.

Let's change that.

NOW'S THE

UNDER CALIFORNIA LAW

A NOTE ON THE RECENTLY PASSED CALIFORNIA BILL AB-1215

AB-1215 Law enforcement: facial recognition and other biometric surveillance.

Introduced by Assembly Member Ting on February 21, 2019

Passed on the California Assembly Floor on September 12, 2019

California Map.png

MaiVERIC has designed EyeWitness to comply with AB-1215. The Application limits the use of face recognition algorithms to crime scene investigations where law enforcement agencies not only have the right, but also the obligation to gather evidence and compare suspect faces against known offender records. What EyeWitness does is greatly expedite a process that is legally required to be performed by duly appointed police investigators to protect the citizens they serve.

Predictive Policing

Pre-crime use of AI leveraging big data and advanced analytics.

Profiling

Post-event use of AI on all citizens leveraging available demographic information.

Mass Surveillance

Pre-crime use of AI on all citizens without probable cause.

EyeWitness

Post-crime use of AI on field suspects (under probable cause) & known offenders only.
